The Nike Air Max story began in 1987, with the launch of the first in a long line of popular shoe models - the Air Max 1. The timeline then continued with such models as the Air Max II (Air Max Light) in 1989; the Air Max III (Air Max 90) in 1990; the Air Max IV (Air Max BW or Air Max Classic) and Air 180 in 1991; the Air Max 270 (Air Max 93) in 1993; the Air Max Total (Air Max 95) in 1995; and many more. One of the most recent additions is the Air Max Turbulence, launched in 2010 (list according to Nikes History of Air Advertising). The key design feature of the range is of course the instantly recognisable visible air unit - a feature which is also indicative of the Air Maxs intended function as a running shoe. Especially suited to creative experimentation, Nike has produced an awe-inspiring array of styles, colourways and hybrids of Air Max sneakers over the years, ensuring there is a shoe to suit all tastes and requirements.
